Day 23 only one chick hatched on day 20, broody not incubator

I have not seen any pips and I am on day 23. After the one healthy one hatched on day 21 (sorry not day 20 but I can't edit the title of my post for some reason), on day 22 one appears to have pipped but then died. I also picked up the eggs yesterday and scratched/tapped at them but did not hear any peeps.

We put the shipped eggs (shipped from NY to CA, but packaged really really well) under broody just after noon on July 10th. I figure that that's probably it since I started all the eggs at the same time and they should have hatched by now if they were going to... but any advice?

If nothing happens I will go get some couple day old chicks from a local place and sneak them under her at night so the one that hatched on its own will have some buddies.

I just always thought broody hens did better than incubators, now I'm not so sure...

Have you candled them throughout the incubation to check for development? I'm sorry you only had 1 hatch.

No I didn't candle, I was too busy and I also figured with shipped eggs it was a crap shoot anyway... they were pretty eggs though, I'm crossing my fingers the one that hatched is a girl...
