We have 5 chicks hatch over the past 2 days and have 8 more eggs in the bator waiting to hatch. I have listened to the eggs and only heard movement and chirping from one campine egg, however it has not pipped yet so do i pip for it in the air sac end? If yes then how will i go about doing this?

Also another egg seemed to have a pip in it but im not sure whether a chick that has hatched made this as there has been no further development so i pulled a bit of the shell off and i could see the chick in their with the membrane still over it? I dont think it is alive?

What do i do with the remaining eggs, candle them and look for movement? I have done the float test and only the campine egg moved about but i have heard people on here saying it is not very reliable.

Please help as i feel time is running out for the little campine egg!

ive got the same sort of problem on day 22 ,, about 5 eggs that have pipped in the wrong place from the side or the small end of the egg and im unsure weather to help them out ... for some of them its been 24 hour and it dont help with the other chicks knocking the rest of the egg all over the place !

i really dont know what to do as it is only day 22 but still want to give the rest the chance to hatch !

It a nightmare! I had one hatch yesterday but we had to zip a bit for it and then it carried on on its own and hatched 2 hours later and is doing great so sometimes i think they do need a little help!
I have just pipped and zipped the egg for the campine and it is still behind the inner membrane, it bled quite abit when i touched it so i have put the egg wrapped up in a warm cloth for a while so hopefully it can find its own way out now, i just hope it is not stuck!

Can you not put the chicks into the brooder yet? Mine are as they were rolling the eggs around haha. Apparently it does encourage the others to hatch out though!

yeah ive got a brooder here waiting just didnt want to open the incubator if i didnt have to ! as ive got 4 or 5 pipping just in the wrong place's it dont help that the other chicks are rolling them over on top of where there trying to hatch !! might try giving them a few more hours and see what happends ... what do you reckon ? or should i move the other chicks and turn the eggs where they have pipped back up the right way ?

We had eggs that had pipped and when the chick was dried off enough we would quickly take them out and roll the eggs back the right way up, our humidity has always been high (around 70%) so it never dropped lower than 60% and we would always splash water in there. the other eggs have hatched fine since, until this one. In the end i broke as much egg as i could off and then found the chicks beak at the wrong end! The chick got really quiet so i acted fast and got the chick out of the egg and put straight back into the incubator to warm up.... it doesnt look too good at all but it was getting late on in the hatch and that egg seemed the only one left to be alive so i took a chance! It is breathing but not doing much else, not all of its yolk is absorbed so im just hoping once its absorbed it might have a bit more life in it!

fingers crossed for you .... im just doing a double check on the brooder now and im going to get them out in the next hour or so ! might help the couple that have been at it for 24+ hours and turn the other few back up the right way !! theres still quite a few that havent pipped yet so ill add a bit more water as i close the incubator !! and see how it goes =)

have you get the humidity high enough? and not to open and open the bator over and over?

raise the humidity and keep it above 70% since they seemed to have a problem in releasing themselves from their former home.

good luck for you.
