FIRST TIMER: It is day 23. No eggs have hatched. 1 was removed on day 18 that did have a dead chick in in but was oozing dark yellow, foul smelling goo. Yesterday two eggs exploded full of pale green, pungent stuff--one may have had underdeveloped chick but it was so foul I am not certain. Do I assume all of them are bad? This is my first hatch and when I candled before 5 day lockdown, the eggs that I could see well in I felt confident something was in. (Dark brown were hard for me to tell.) How long to I continue waiting? Do I assume the bacteria from the first one infected them all? HELP!

Are these in an incubator or under a hen? Is the incubator calibrated? Have you candled since lockdown?
Incubator. It has been requiring recalibration d/t the styrofoam bottom becoming degraded and losing water/heat. Overall though it was never cooler than 98 degrees fahrenheit and humidity at its lowest was 49%. I candled YESTERDAY when I had to remove the eggs to clean the explosion mess and there were a couple that do look like there are chicks in them, I still find the dark brown ones very difficult to tell. Some of them seem to be a solid mass of ?? in there... I read on other threads about the veins. I did not see veins in those eggs so they're probably junk, yes? Gosh, this is a really bad first experience!
