I have one last chick that has internally pipped, just candled to see if my last 4 eggs were gonna hatch or not. I think the shell may be too thick for it to externally pip because it was internally pipped yesterday when i candled too.... Should i open the egg and help it out or just wait nd possibly lose the chick?
I cant hear it peeping but i can see that its beak is in the air cell moving around

just heard a pip from it, so do you guys think i should help it since its late hatch at day 24 or just let it go and maybe not make it?

What the heck, go ahead and help it out. What do you have to lose? If there's something wrong with it then at least you won't be left wondering whether or not you should have helped, and if it makes it, great!

get it out while you can,.. same thing happened to me recently ,. had super thick shells and I heard lots of peeping and had rocking then nothing,,. open later to find beautiful chicks had tried pipping out but the shell was HARD and THICK.

I used to subscribe to the don't help it plan,. but I couldn't stand it anymore and have helped out some really first rate chicks,. had to cull some too,.. but hey,. thats all part of it.

yolk wasnt fully absorbed...Its laying in the bator right now, dont think its gonna make it:( I had on elast night that finished absorbing the yolk but i dont hink this one can...there is aot of it left

As long as it isn't bleeding from the umbilicus it should be able to absorb the rest of the yolk just fine. You can wrap it in a soft cloth and tuck it into a small cup or mug in the brooder to keep it from hurting itself or being injured by the more active peeps. In my first hatch I had a chick that didn't absorb the yolk at all, it was hanging from the umbilicus looking brownish-yellow and really nasty. The yolk sac burst when the chick struggled out of the shell and the chick nearly herniated herself. I grabbed her, wrapped her, and put her in a coffee mug. Eight hours later her umbilicus had dried up, I cut it off, and she's out running around with all her little buddies right now.

It is strange that it would have an unabsorbed yolk at day 24, though. That may be an indicator of internal issues. Were your temps low?
