Two of the 7 eggs hatched on day 22. Here they are:

So cute! Dad is a speckled sussex and mom is either a barred rock or speckled sussex. I was surprised to see so much yellow!

BUT.... two more pipped and then died on day 21. The remaining 3 have done noting. And the bator smells.

What do I do now? Give up? Take out the chicks and wait?

Thanks for your help - this is my first hatch!!

I'm thinking if your bator stinks that at least one of the remaining eggs is rotten. I would take the chicks out and give the eggs a quick sniff. You'll be able to tell if they are rotten. Have you candled the eggs before?

They look nothing like my Speckled Sussex chicks that I have in the brooder right now, so they must be mixed with the Barred Rock. Speckled crossed with Barred...should be fun watching that pattern emerge as they get older.

Yes, I have candeled them, with the last time being right before lockdown. Two seemed to be much less developed than the others, but since this is my first time incubating, I thought that I had better put them on lockdown just in case. Those two eggs are also smaller in general, so I really wasn't sure. They have bantams where I got the eggs from, so I suppose it is possible that they are bantam eggs. I have never seen bantam eggs, but I thought that they would be really small, and these are just kind of small. I know that I am making myself sound really stupid right now, but I have never done this before!
