I've been talking to a lot of folks and have heard about some breeders shaking eggs before shipping and some freezing them.
I imagine as in all trades and walks of life
there are good and bad. I have had eggs come to me with nice air sacks and some that looked odd, to no air sack to swashing around like water.
You're very lucky the breeder offered you a new batch, he didn't have to, shows he has compassion and wants to see you succeed. At this time of year it's still freezing at night, we never know
if eggs could of gotten frozen at one of it's stops or had ruptured air sacks due to flight.
The shipped egg things seems to be quite a racket, so many rather sell eggs than hatch out and sell chicks. I both buy eggs and chicks.
My last two batched went bad due to inexperience on my part and a not so great incubator.
I will tell you this, I too have the FI pro series and DO NOT rely on the Farm Innovators humidity and temp guages. It even says on it in RED print ' Reference only'
I keep a sep thermometer inside with the eggs and right now one FI says the temp is 91 and the other says 92 but inside both, those thermometers read 99.5 and 100. Use a sep thermometer inside. If I relied on the built in one I would of baked these eggs. On both of mine it shows 8 degrees lower than it really is.
