My chicken eggs are now on Day 22 now and still nothing. I have candled it from the start and it has been what it was supposed to be doing. Right now there is a very big air pocket at the base and the rest is dark, so it's definitely formed. How long should I wait to know if it won't hatch or died?? My temp and humidity have been good, so maybe I just have to wait a bit more?
Any advise out there?

.It's just so exciting to have watched them move in the egg up till now and I just want it to hatch and see what it looks like. I am now on day 23 and still nothing. So the wait continues...............

I know the waiting is a killer....hang in there. I've read of several people hatching on day 25/26. My current hatch is halfway and this is day 23. As I've heard several times: "Mother Nature doesn't know what exactly 21 days is....they hatch when they're ready". (doesn't make the waiting any easier though

I had eggs hatch on two separate days (day 21 & day 23) in the same incubator, so don't give up yet. As long as you don't have a bad smell coming from the 'bator, I would keep them in for a couple more days. Good luck!

Thanks for the good vibes. No bad smell yet. So I guess I will be patient and keep waiting.......

Eggs may hatch in 24 or 25 days but that is not your goal. It sounds like your temperature might be to cool. Your goal should be for them to be finished hatching in 21 full days.

You said they were moving in the egg earlier? I hope they're not quitters. I've had a couple fully develop but never hatch. It's a mystery, really. It's not your fault, these things just happen sometimes.
Give it a couple more days and let us know if you see any movement or peeping.

Oh yes mother nature knows that under her conditions they should be hatched in 21 days. I know we are trying to duplicate her and it is tough. If your hatch is halfway on day 23 you are also running too cool. Your goal should be 21 days and if its not working you need to fix it. One of the biggest problems is inaccurate thermometers and the location you are reading temperature. You shouldn't settle for late and drawn out hatches. You should keep adjusting until you get it right. It can be done.
