Hi everyone;-) I'm very excited to meet people whom enjoy lil farming like myself!! I put 5 duck eggs under my broody hen 26 days ago today they all are starting to chip the shell but the liner inside the egg is still in one piece is this ok?
Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Mountain Peeps is right; everything should be fine. Duck eggs typically take 28 days (a little longer for some breeds like Muscovys) to hatch so they are right on schedule. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your duckling hatch.
Sounds like all is well. They will pip, (poke a hole in the shell to breath) and sit like this for a day or so. They are busy detaching from the inside of the egg and absorbing the last of the yolk. They will hatch when they are ready.
