Day 27 for call duck eggs when to HELP them ????

Yes I used that q tip and now I know which two I am keeping . Can't wait till Friday we can let them swim for a few minutes .

I just love baby ducks. My 1-2 week old chicks are brooding/babysitting my ducklings when I'm busy. I think they've imprinted on me I know it's probably cheap love, but I'll take it lol.

Awww! How cute! I let my ducklings swim in a dog water bowl last night. They loved it!

STOP TEASING THEM. lol fill that bath tub put about and inch of water in there and let them go to TOWN. they will do there under the water swimming and go absolutely CRAZy. Tormenting those little guys with that tiny little bath. LOL

Hey, I'm on day 10 with 14 call duck eggs(10 of which are under my 2 silkie chickens). I've read a lot of different sites, first time hatching anything, I never saw anything about giving them a "safe hole". Can someone please tell me what that is and when, where and with what should I do it? I've also been wandering if anyone knows if my silkie hens will help them hatch if needed or should I bring them in to incubator for lockdown?

Safe hole is a small hole made at the top of the large end of the egg.

It helps them breath, calls have a hard time getting out of there shells because of there small beaks and necks.

The only time I will make a safe hole is one day after there due date because they can easily run out of air and die in the shell.
It's only necessary if they are struggling.

You silkie may hatch those babies out the only thing I would watch for is when it's close to hatching day have a spray bottle ready. Mama ducks go for a swim and sit on her eggs this helps with raising the humidity making it easier for them to escape. Since a Silkie can't duplicate this you may need to get in there and spray the eggs just once to help.

Now I have witness my call duck mommies helping there babies out for the ones that struggle. So keep a close eye on them come there due date
