I have an emu egg in the incubator. Today is day 57 and he has not pipped.

As of this moment, he is alive. The egg wiggles around when I whistle to it and stays warm (except the air cell) when I take it out of the incubator for a while.

We incubated at 97. Low humidity.

Like I said, it wiggles when I whistle but I hear no noises coming from it.

Is there anything I can do? Am I overreacting??

Not sure how to incubate emu eggs but chicken eggs your incubate at 99.5F. Low temp could be the reason

Here’s a link with info that may help:

That site said that 50-52 days is typical, but from other Google search results, it sounds like 58-59 days is not uncommon... like with chicken eggs, temperature can apparently change incubation time.

Also do a search on BYC... I’m pretty sure I’ve seen emu hatching threads.

Short of waiting a little longer, I guess there’s not much else you can do. Hopefully, everything is ok, and you’ll have chicks very soon.

Just let it be and keep whistling and encouraging. Fresh air is crucial so keep air circulating. They can take 60 days and your 97 temp is good. Dont change anything and just be patient.
