Well, this is my first go with incubating my own eggs. I built a stryofoam bator, based off of MissPrissys design (thanks a bunch, it's been great!). After keeping steady temp/humidity for a week, I got my eggs. 6 frizzle cochin and 7 silkies. Well, lets just say, the kids keep reminding me that looking into the bator 6 million times a day won't make them hatch any faster (darn!). So, last night was day 7, and I candled, but wanted to do it again tonight with my kids. So, we have 12 out of 13 with definite growth and movement, except for one that has growth, but may have a bloodring (not sure, so will watch it and recandle at day 12) Here are some pics:
My kids got such a thrill seeing the little babies moving! One was so active it would go from top to bottom repeatedly!!!
I think this is the one I am questioning. Is that a bloodring or just dark veining? It does have a little blob in there.
One egg was clear, so I let my oldest open it up, after she was done boohooing that it didn't grow.
And lets just say, she squeezed the egg a little too hard, and the result was very predictable, but funny non the less!!!
