Alright, so it’s now day 8 and I’m not seeing any signs of life in one particular egg. There is no air sac and it looks mostly clear, should I toss it?

@day 8 and no activity, probably not fertilized.

I find it rather interesting considering my hens are constantly cooped up with my rooster. Is it because it’s still quite cold?

I don’t think it has nothing to do with cold or hot. Some eggs are just not fertilized or not gonna make it. I just hatched 12 chicks couple of days ago and I collected those eggs when it’s 20-30*F temps. I set 15 eggs and at the end of incubating I opened the 3 that didn’t hatched, they were not fertilized and no development at all just egg whites and yolks.

Guess it’s a bit of a gamble. I am disappointed I lost an egg but it’s somewhat of an art so I’ll definitely keep trying and put effort into the remaining eggs.

Brown eggs can be difficult to see in. And with that one being so porous, I wouldn't toss it just yet. It probably isn't fertile, but it definitely doesn't look rotten, and it does have that "orange glow" so why not leave it for a few more days to be sure.

I know right? The first time I set eggs in my own Mini II last year I got 4 out of 7 fertilized and hatched, then 6/7 then 6/7 from then on. I set 28 eggs on a bigger incubator got 24 last summer. SO it is kind of gamble, and rewarding and disappointing sometime. Keep at it if you have your own eggs.

I’m not putting any faith into it and still am disappointed I can’t see anything but I will give it a second chance before I toss it. It just strikes me as odd that there’s no sign of an air sac.
