day old baby chick abandoned and attacked by mother help me!!!

I have a day old chick that apparently has been abandoned by its mother and was pushed out of the nest and was injured during the process!! Top of the head has been pecked until the entire top of the little chicks skull is exposed! Sorry to be so graphic

I just need some advice on what to do to help the little guy. Should I put vaseline on the wound? How can I feed this little chick? Should I give him some water? I'm just unsure of how to help the little guy/girl?

You can put some neosporin (reg. kind, NOT with lidocaine) on the wound. The most important thing is to get the little guy warm so you'll need to set up a brooder with heat lamp for it and then you can put some chick starter and water (use a chick waterer or be sure to put clean rocks or marbles in anything else so that the chick doesn't drown) in the brooder with it. Are you sure mamma attacked it and not one of your other chooks? If the nest is elevated and it fell out she may not have come to its defence if there are still eggs hatching under her. If that is what happend she may take the chick back, but you'll have to make sure the wound is covered and no red is showing thru otherwise the chick will continue to be attacked.
