:idunnodon't know what to do, baby still has umbilical attached. Baby was born @4 a.m. Sunday morning. Dried. & as we were moving it to brooder we realised the umbilical is completely dried but still stuck on. We've already had to clean vent for pasty butt once today and was a little nervous about the umbilical cord being in the way.
Is this something to be concerned about? This was our first time hatching so we're still learning.

Oh! Check your brooder temperature if you're seeing pasty butt. I keep my hot side at around 90 the first week, cool side 80. Pasty butt is normally because the babes are too hot.:)
Thank you for that. I had no clue about that one. Def going to check the temp right now.. And also that's a relief to know that I don't have to be so worried about the umbilical lol

No problem! Always happy to help a first timer. I know it is kind of nervewracking the first hatch, alot of "what in the world?" Happening.:)

I’ve found it very easy to follow my chicks’ lead about temperature. Last night they slept very near, but not under, Mama Heating Pad. Today I turned it down again, from Medium to Low. DH worries about my techniques, and while I was away for the weekend, reopened the heater vent in the room! He doesn’t read BYC!
