Day old chick not well, HELP

My first chick hatched and it is a day old now, it won't drink or eat and it's toes are both curled in, I looked up on the Internet how to make boots etc, however it's knee or joint is red and looks swollen and actually looks like blood under the skin. I am afraid to mess with it much due to the fact I don't want to make that poor baby hurt. What can I do to help it so it won't die? We named it Alpha because it is our first born egg.

Well my baby Alpha died this morning at 3:11 am, I held that precious baby until it took the last breath. Once I seen it was coming, I wanted to have Alpha pass in loving arms.
I am not liking this chicken raising thing right now, it's gut wrenching.
