Day old chicks wanted (Found) updated!

I can't wait until the 30th! Are you going to candle them later on to see if any are developing?

If I can figure out how to candle them and tell what they should look like when I look, I will. Whats the earliest I can look to see if they are developing?

She's stayed on the nest all day. Will she get up to get a drink and eat? I put a few pieces of hamburger bun in with her and she ate them all.

I think day 6 or 7 is the suggested time to start candling. Then at least once after that. You should look for veins and an embryo.

She will go for long periods of time without food and water. She will only get off the nest to stretch, eat, drink, etc. We try not to feed ours on the nest so their legs dont cramp up.

I thought I saw on another post you needed chicks. I have 2 under lights. These are mixbreed chicks with one being black and the other one black with a little white on it.

I found little friends for Nemo at the auction. And gave 2 of those to Hannah for her little single chick. I just got 14 new chicks from Ideal today. And I bought 6 Silkies at the auction last night. I hope at least 1 is a pullet.

Do they look like Splash ones? They are all much lighter than my Lunar and have touches of darker gray. And do you want a couple of them Hannah? lol

Is this one a Gray or Blue?

There was one other Splash and one that was more of a light gray color, but I traded them to my friend for one of the Barred Rocks she bought lol.

im glad you found some the same age for your chicks. They look soo cute. wow haw many chickens are you up to now? I am glad you found a barred rock I know you said your daughter wanted one. What breeds did you get from Ideal?

Hopefully the Barred Rock we got last night is a hen! (It isn't, we got another roo--back to the sale for him *sigh*)

I currently have: 16 Standards & 12 Bantams that are permanent residents and 24 Chicks. I might have to thin my flock out a bit once all the chicks get a little older and I decide which to keep.

Plus the 6 Silkies I got last night, but most of those will be resold. I only want 1 or 2 of them.

I also have a Broody sitting on 9 eggs, thanks to Hannah, so hopefully they will hatch too!

I want to try and keep my flock around 40-45 total. I think my complete total of all chickens here right now is 59 lol. Oh, and 6 ducks.

I got 2 Easter Eggers, 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 2 Blue Cochin, 2 Gold Laced Cochin and 4 Mille Fleur d'Uccles.

I think at least 2 of those 5 tiny Silkies I bought are mixes. Check out the wings on the bigger 2.

This bottom one is that tiny one with the gray eyebrows and vaulted head.

The other 3 are much tinier and have the wispy wing feathers, like Silkies.

I seem to be a roo magnet lately though, so I refuse to get attached to any more chickens til they lay eggs! (or try not to anyways lol)
