We have been steady hatching out mallards since March. We have had a few that quit at the end for whatever reasons. Overall they have been doing good. We had 17 hatch in the last 24hrs. All are fine but we have one that keeps floping over on its back. It gets back over sometimes but it will just lay there other times. We have it only with the last lil one that hatched this morn so it won't get tramped by the others. Any ideas on the back flipper?? I will give it sometime it doesn't seem stressed . Just don't know if its gonna make it.

I wish I knew what to do, but I've had this happen to me before and both times the baby didn't make it. I hope your little guy pulls through.

Without seeing the duckling or its behaviour it is a little harder to diagnose - it does sound similar to a duckling I raised late last year from shipped eggs. It was taken to a vet and diagnosed as having a Vitamin B Thiamin deficiency. Can you get a hold of some vitamin suppliments from a feed store?? This little guy might also need to be seperated to ensure he doesnt get trampled unil he has recovered enough to stop flipping over.
