Makes sense, that plastic cover was hot to touch, so figures what goes inside with the temp when the cover is closed, it turns the brooder into an oven... thanks for everyone for you help!!Yes. If you cover a poultry brooder it needs to be wire so they can get fresh air. A plastic cover would also prevent them from having both cool and warm zones.
The brooder I use is 4'x4' with the feed and water in the cool zone which is often 20°F cooler than the heated zone.
