Hey Everyone don't really have time to search the forums for an answer cause I think I am going to loose 3 of my new chicks very soon. But even if I loose these 2 I want to make sure this is not something to affect the others I have.
The chicks are 2 days old Cornish Cross. They were hatched yesterday.
They are exhibiting the following behavior:
laying on their sides, seeming to be gasping slowly, Wings stretched out and very stiff in their bodies. They also seem very cold.
No signs of trauma, other than it was really hot yesterday, in the 90s, and they were panting a bit in the car on the way home.
I got them home, put them in the brooder, dipped beaks in water and gave them some chick starter. The others are drinking and eating so I assume that these 2 did as well. They were not handled rough at all.
No noticeable issues with their stool and no treatment has been given yet.
I will be treating them myself as I can't see taking day olds to the vet. I have plenty of experiance treating everything but chickens though.
They are in a old wire-floor brooder. 4 weeks ago I raised 15 with no losses.
Please Help and Thanks.
