Day18 ( update: its hatched!! )

I totally understand. I am on pins and needles not knowing how many may or may not hatch. I'm using the egg carton method, so it's really hard to tell if there's movement.

All the best with your little guy. HOpe the hatch goes really well.

Mine is only half way out of the shell, the bottom 1/4 is still there. Is it normal for the chick to lay there and ...well breath like its gasping? I hope its ok, there was a little blood but not more than a couple drops. LOL my DH is mad cause I dont want to go to bed. Im gonna be so upset if this little guy doesnt make it

I think its good to leave it. I think the little cord needs to dry up and break off on its own. So dont take the last piece of shell off. I had the last one of my hatch have that happen too. I made sure it was not stuck to it.....but let it break free itself. It will look way cuter in the morning. but i think you should post a pic before you go to bed!!!! Congrats!!!

She looks like she might be a Rhode Island Red. You should call TS to find out for sure when they expect the chicks in. Just in case you are able to get them Saturday. I was thinking that the PO wont be open Sunday.......so if they come in Saturday you will want to be aware. I hope you are there before they are picked over. Your in Farm Country so i think it is possible, especially being the first wave of chicks.

I thought RIR too but the egg she was in is cream colored and she looks darker near her bottom and on her back, but I guess it will be easier to see when shes all done making me wait...lol
