Egg production is down here in Washington DC. We have four hens - well, Louise has never layed at all so I guess I should say three laying hens - and we are averaging one egg a day. I hate to put a light in their coop as I'm afraid they will wake the neighbors if they are not let out right when they get up. They make so much noise! And not nice little bawk, bawking sounds. It's unworldly! I've been upping their food and giving them more cheese and corn thinking that might help with production, but hasn't yet. Oh well, I guess we will take a hint from nature and give up eggs for a while.
