Daytime attack

I live in rural central Indiana. During the day 5 of our chickens were killed while we were not home. There were piles of feathers all over the yard. One pile per chicken. This rooster was the only body found. Any idea of what killed them? We have never had this happen. Our neighbor said she killed a coon in the treeline over her flock during that same day.

It was probably the coon before it got shot. I feel your pain the raccoons are awful. They kill for fun and it’s not fun for us.

Will raccoons eat rotten meat, like dogs and coyotes will? I've always thought that the reason canines will kill lots of victims at one time isn't for fun. It's because they can eat their kills for a long time, even when they are rotten. Will raccoons do that too?

Also do you think it could have been neighborhood dogs, or stray dogs? They will carry off the victims and bury them for later.
