Cherry walked back out into the open. "Alright. Aspen and Comet. You are dismissed."

Aspen wondered what had happened behind the trees, but was also glad her alpha was ok. She trotted away to the food pile.

Zelda heard Cherry's voice in the distance. She paused on a hilltop and looked back, her eyes gentle for just a moment. Then she let out a howl, haunting and full of loneliness. It floated through the air, and then Zelda turned and ran.

Cherry paused and looked up the hill. She just caught a glimpse of Zelda disappearing. She howled back.

Cherry turned to Comet. "Comet," She said, "Come with me and Aspen. We are going hunting. I'm hoping to bring down a larger deer."

Cherry turned to Comet. "You don't need to worry about that." She said sharply. "No more questions about the loner."

Comet bowed. "I'm sorry, Alpha. I just wanted to know if she's safe."

Comet nodded. He'd heard a howl a while ago, and couldn't help but wonder, Had Cherry let the murderer go? He glanced at Cherry suspiciously. "Which way should we go?"
