DE and dust boxes

    We have the book "Storey's guide to raising chickens". At one point in the book, she talks about using DE in the dust box, and she doesn't recommend it because chickens are very susceptible to respiratory problems. I know some of you use it, and I'd like to hear comments from anyone on their opinion about using it. I have it in mine, but only about 10% - 15%. Thanks for any input.

    I think that's way too much, for the reason you stated. A slight sprinkle is plenty.
