DE around Lehigh Valley, PA area??....

I live west of Allentown and I'm wondering where I can pick up food grade DE........anyone know? I'm not looking for stall dry. I'd appreciate any tips!

I couldnt find any in the area, though I'm told my local agway will order it but it will probably take two weeks or so, so I just got it online. Easier that way, and I think I got 10# (in 4- 2.5lb cont that are great for mixing food!) with shipping and all for just under $30. Not a great price I know, but it was worth it rather than waiting to me.

editted to add: that was probably a month and a half ago, and I put it in their feed, their bedding, and occasionally sprinkle them/their hay with it and I;m barely through a half of ONE of those 2.5 lb containers.

I want to get a whole 50# bag....we want to be able to do our whole lawn (at least occasionally...and do the perimeter more frequently)....we have ticks BAD...along with 80 bajillion annoying bugs.... and dh isn't great about keeping the lawn short enough to really deter the ticks...and the dog spends a lot of time outside...and soon we'll have a puppy...etc etc...lol We have a lot of animals around here....though all I've seen is squirrels, cats, and rabbits......I know there are also at the very least deer, coons, and oppossums....I'm sure other things as well....besides lots of bird life. Anyway, point is I really want to give this stuff a try and put it to good use! I definitely do not want to spend more on shipping than on the actual DE....guess I'll try to find the closest Agway unless anyone else has had better luck.

As far as I know DE

is a filter media... as in pools. Maybe you could try that route. I don't know if you can buy it in 50# bulk for pools or not, but that might be worth a look!

No, Pool grade D.E is NOT the same as Food grade. Pool grade is poisonious and is harmful to anything that touches it. You want food grade. I use it. I have only had it about 3 wks. It has cut down on the flies and the little creepy crawlies. Also I use it in the chickens dust bath area, and put it in their food. It has already started pushing out some worms. It will take up to a month or so to get everything. Anyway, you can purchase it online, or on Ebay. I have someone local that sells it. Check out his site for some great info on D.E.....wolfcreekranch.net. You can purchase it directly from him, but I am unsure how much shipping is, I found he was the best price for a 50lb bag. I know I need feed grade...definitely not going to get pool grade!

shipping seems to be insane on the stuff...makes a 50# bag end up costing ~$80.....no way. I need to find it locally....if I can't find it somewhere being carried regularly I will have to see if I can get someone to order it.
