My 50 lbs. of DE came yesterday. The end of the box was chewed up pretty good. Some DE had spilled out and the box end was retaped with about a pound of packing tape. I wonder if it triggered a biohazard response at UPS when the bum tossed the box hard against the floor :).

Anyhoo, the chooks are in heaven. I mixed a couple quarts into their dust crater, and they're going to town. Dorothy is hogging it though while the others stand around wishing she'd get out and let others have a chance.

Where did you get it and if you don't mind how much did you have to shell out for the DE and shipping?

Last time I bought two small bags on line - the shipping was HORENDOUS - then I found it at the feed store for $20 for the 50 pounds - we've since moved to the middle of nowhere - and now I need to start thinking of how I'm going to get it again!

Thanks

www.custommilling.com. Call the toll-free number to order. It was $21.95 + shipping for a total of $40 to my door in NC. Ask them if they have a distributor near you (although NE is pretty far from them in TN), and you can go pick it up for the $21.95. Just easier for me to have it sent here since I have so little freakin' free time these days.

You know with all the farming you guys have in the Grain Belt, there's bound to be somebody there who sells it. Maybe try a new post asking for sources of food grade DE near you.

I'm glad the info on this company is getting around since I first posted it. It certainly saves some $$$ if you have a dealer within the vicinity, on the product as well as the gasoline to go get the stuff. I use it all the time, 50# every few months. You just have to store it where moisture can't get to it.
