Yesterday I noticed after I held one of my hens I had these little yellow bugs on my arms. After a little google search I found out my hen has lice. So i went to the store and bought DE.

What is the best way to use it?

DE is used by sprinkling it through the litter and the birds' feathers. However, it is better as a preventative measure, and has little effect (at least that I've found) on mite/lice infestations. Much better products to use include Sevin dust or another poultry mite/lice dust or spray. You can try the DE, but I can not guarantee that it will solve your parasite problem.

I saw a film clip on YouTube on how to dust a chicken using a cloth sack such as a pillow case. It appeared to be quite effective. DE is good for lots of things, but a heavy infestation of bugs warrants clearing up right away.

Dusting with Sevin dust will help clear up the bugs. Destroy the current bedding and start over with treated bedding. Of course, treat the entire coop.
