DE - how much is too much?

We have the Playhouse coop for 3 chickens and the run is 4x8, the fooprint on the coop is maybe 2x4 feet. I've been using about 3/4 of cup total of DE every week when I replace the top layer of dirt in the run and on the pine shavings as well (which get tossed out every week.)

How much is too much?

OK, I'm a newbie to chickens. I got 4 cute little ones from TSC in March, they are all doing well, so I took the plunge and ordered 25 more (grab bag of 25 - 5 breeds - unknown) from Mcmurry last week. They arrived on Thursday and all are doing well, but attempting to identify the breeds.

What the heck are these chipmunk looking birds?

I just sprinkle the DE on everything so I can see it.
