ok, where can i go online to get DE or stall dri? Also...are there other brands. I went to the mercantile and they had chicken dust stuff...and it was for mites and stuff...but I didnt know if that was the same. Also there was this horse barn refresher stuff...and I didnt know if that was the same either! AH!

You can get stall dri at Tractor supply company if you have one around you. It's usually in the back of the store near all the goat feed. That's the only stuff I have run across so far without having to order online. I try to avoid ordering online as much as I can.
I think the other stuff you're refering to might be called PDZ. Some feed stores carry that. None of the feed stores that are somewhat close to me seem to have that.

I use that stuff to clean my house, and my dog crates. It's called zeolite. It is awesome. I sprinkle it on my rugs before I vaccuum. Sprinkle it in the dog crates, cat litter box, etc. The product I buy is called odorzout. It comes in a small shaker can. I'm sure PDZ is more cost effective.

I get food grade DE from the grainery in town. When looking for DE you may need to give its full name and be sure the specify "food grade."

I had recently gotten a bag of StallDry ...thinkin it was the DE product and found it it is not the same thing at all.......

The DE I wanted was the one that says
'' Food Chemical Codex Grade''
and your chickens can eat it ...
.
Now, the stall dry, I am still not sure , but , I dont think you are supposed to let the chickens eat it, if it is not food grade??

I am still trying to figure out the difference.
I did find the genuine DE product at our local MFA.

No one else even heard of it before.
Some one on here on BYC helped me last week, to find the correct product for my chickens.

I still have lots to learn on here.....

but I hope this helps you ...??

I bought Sweet PDZ at a local horse feed store. It is perfectly safe for chickens in fact on their web site it says the granules act like grit. For a big bag it was around 11.00 or so here. I don't know exact size but I think it was around 20 lbs. Too dark to go see now! Stall Dri looks similar but I couldn't find anything on their site saying what kind of DE they used and if it was okay for chickens to eat so I went with the Sweet PDZ. Sweet PDZ doesn't use DE.
