We decided to despur our Roo. His spurs were huge and he was really starting to tear the girls' backs up. We just twisted and they popped right off just like everyone said they do.

BUT, there is still what looks to be the spur still there just without the hard casing. Is this the way it is suppose to look and it will just fall off later? Or do we need to remove this too? It bled just a bit, we only did one foot in fear of wrong removel. Please help with info. Thanks.

I watched a video on this a while ago and they just pulled it off and left the rest. We've never done it this way; we use a dremel tool to cut them. Hopefully someone else can tell you more.

from what Ive heard and the videos Ive watched you did the right thing-whats leftis a smaller version of a spur that is soft-yes bled a spat or two but will dry off and teh spur will eventualy grow back but not for a bit-right now its a soft rubbery knob.

So does it really do any good to de spur them? Or is what is left just softer? Will they always have that long shaft there? Does it ever fall off?
