Dead Australorp :(

I'm so sorry for your loss. :hugs Could you tell if anything was broken? The neck area mainly. People will say a dog will make a mess, but in my experience that isn't always true. We lost our first cockerel to someone's loose hunting dog. His neck was broken, but he had no puncture marks or other external injuries other than maybe missing a few feathers.

Thanks both.

I couldn't - I think she'd been there since the day before to be honest as there was a lot of flys etc and rigor mortis had totally set in so impossible to tell really - her neck was at a funny angle but it seems like she'd face planted with her head on the side so I presumed it was from that. I doubt it would be a dog given it was right at the back of the garden but I guess we'll never know :hmm

The boys mature faster. Younger girls like yours want nothing to do with mating and sound like they are being murdered. The older girls are mature and accept it. I have a boy and two girls that are almost 6 months. The older girls accept it and it's gentitle. The younger girls are still at icky boy stage.

Sorry for your loss. Could have she ran into something trying to get away?

I think she could have, there was a tree just by her and kind of between where she was and where the feathers were and her neck seemed on a funny angle but htat could have just been rigor mortis  I guess I'll never know.
