Dead baby Sebright - intestines out of body?

We just found our 1 week old sebright down in the brooder with this coming out the butt....is this the intestine? Or is it poop, worm, or something I should have tried to pull out....he died quickly within a couple of minutes after I found him....the thing coming out was bloody....anyone know what happened or what I should do to protect the rest of the chicks?

Hard to see in the pic, sounds like a rectal prolapse or could have been a loop of intestine from the umbillical area? Are you certain it was coming from the vent? Sorry about your chick.

Yup, definitely the vent....it is hard to see...here's a close-up....it's a long thick thing coming out the vent with a bloody stump at the end of it.
