We have lost 4 chickens over the past 2 weeks...3 hens and one 3 year old rooster. All same injuries...a hole on their back above vent areas. No other sign of injury.

What is getting our birds?!? Coop is enclosed. And their outside run is enclosed from overhead predators

Do you have pictures of the wounds you found on your birds?

This is the only one I have from a bird that was still alive when I found her. She didn't make it. The other ones have been found by my husband after he shuts them in for the night.

That's almost a perfectly clean cut, & couple jagged spots.

Have anything in the coop they maybe slicing themselves on? Like loose wire, a screw, nails?

The wound in the picture looks very similar to wounds I’ve seen from a hawk. It doesn’t look as deep. Whatever did it is very sharp, but the location of it is odd. Like something hit them from above.
Right? But their coop is completely covered. Chicken wire above so owls couldn't get them during the summer. And then fencing all around with no holes. And we have snow drifts from snow (in MN)...but fence is still secure. And tin roof extending from their coop roof to cover food....nothing could get them from above
