This is what my chick did to her egg while rockin around she hit the themomiter i can see her wiggling around inside but the membrane is still intact. Umm what now? at this point it still has a day till she is due and you see veins in the membrane still. but she is moving around a lot no noise

I pulled apart the egg to see how it all works and her egg yolk was large and all green. What causes a green egg yolk?

milleryardchx, just make sure that the humidity is good so that she dont dry out you could try to wrap it with a paper towel to keep her moist. But that is my thoughts i'm new to this chick thing but i have read alot aon this site. good Luck

its the morning of day 21 you can still see her moving around throw the shell hole and every few second you see a beak press against the membrane then hide again. My two other eggs haven't hatched yet either. we will see what happens. humidity is staying at 64 to 70%, 70 only when i add fresh water to the tank through a tube that runs from the outside so no opening the lid, i know.

if i have to help her out when do i know when to? day 22 or 23? should i already have helped if i do help what do i do? I'm just sitting on my hands i don't know what to do!

how long has it been I have found if they havent zipped after 12 hours from a good sized pip hole that they are usually stuck. If that is the case I would start to help her out by slowly picking the shell away and seeing whats going on. if you see blood stop and return to bator with a wet paper towel around part of shell/chick

it had been 24 hours. its no a pip hole she was rocking and hit the thermostat when it happened her head wasn't even facing that end of the egg. we made sure she stayed moist and humidity was good. But what cause the yolk to be green and black?

I always thought green was from a bacterial infection as well? It would be interesting to know.

Actually when that much yolk is unabsorbed you will see green. We see only yellow after much of the yolk is absorbed and the chick better ready to be out.

Some of the candling and sacrificed chick stage photos on line actually show it pretty clearly.

If you break open eggs of chicks that died before day 21 you'll often see green yolk. It's not that uncommon.
