dead chicken inside coop back eaten another one gone tonightYIKES!!!

ok the trap is set I didn't see this post about what or how to use the bait but I did use roast beef and way in the back of the trap.I also was looking in the run and found the hole under the fence the critter is using. It is under 2 fences and has a trail that leads from out in the pasture.Obviously this critter or critters has made frequent trips back and forth.I have left a light on in the barn and this did nothing to stop it.Tonight the chickens are all locked in their coop.I leave for work around 2pm and had been leaving their chicken door open til I get home from work at 12a but the damage is done by that time.Hopefully I will catch something soon.

Good Luck kelliepulido !
Did ya place the trap in the path the critter is takin'?
When I have "diggers" I place a few bricks in the hole 'till I can mend it and place the trap right next to it.

If I don't have a digger, I place the trap near where I have seen the critters but not too close to the cage in case I draw "other" varmint right up to the chickens.

Let us know what ya catch... and take a pic if ya' can.

Quote:
Place the bait Beyond the flat plate (towards the back of the trap)
If the varmint is large it may become stuck in the door thereby preventing it from locking which can allow them to wiggle back out.

I have baited coon by hanging balled tin foil on a string hanging from the back of a live trap. They are curious critters and sometimes shiney things get their attention over chickens just long enough to get themselves in a pickle.

Just three nights ago I ran outside to chase away a coon from the door of the coop and supprise... there was a opossum IN THE RUN! That 'ol 'possum was dispached on sight, the coon was trapped last night.

Back to back sweet.

Lol
Yes it was back to back, or rather right at the same time! The 'possum in the run and a coon tryin to get in! No chickens were lost. The 'possum was eatin' the chicken feed... perhaps an Appetizer?

I can't wait to find out what you catch! Make sure you keep us posted!

I love it when a plan comes together. Now dispatch them and reset your traps. You might find there is a whole family of thse critters. Good job!!
