Dead chicken

We have 12 chickens 18 months old. Never a problem of any kind, but tonight went out and found one of them dead. Didn't see anything in previous days that would indicate that she was under duress. Any thoughts on what might have happened?

Sorry for the circumstances. Sudden death in chickens is frequently caused by heart attack. It might also be a reproductive tract problem , but those are generally drawn out.

I’m so sorry for your loss. No idea, but chickens can be quite ill and not exhibit any visible symptoms. Survival tactic being prey animals.
