I thought she was broody yesterday. Sitting on a nest of hat she had gathered. No fleas, No lice, No runny nose or eyes, no watery stool. Just her comb appeared dehydrated as they sometimes do with a broody girl. This morning she is dead. in the same place I found her yesterday with her head all bloody. That means she did not go in last night. Would the other chickens peck her to death??? She was not actually on any eggs just a nest. Would she not move if someone was picking on her?

Does she have eggs underneath? Then again bloody head means something got her.

no eggs. The run is critter proof and if something else got her they would have eaten prt of her I would assume??? I can't understand why she would just sit the while one of her sisters pecked her to death???

Did you ever find out what had happened to your chicken? I just found my hen the same way. Bloody head, but no attack marks or eaten parts.

From my experiment, I had 2 Dominique and 4 Leghorns. We found out the one Dominique of two was a rooster so we sold him to someone who wants to keep. We can't keep roosters in here that is illegal.

Anyway, one day I saw one Leghorn was covered with blood around her head, then we found out that she hurt herself to get out of the coop by flying and hit her head at the corner of the coop because the wood at the corner was red... and I saw some blood spotter around there.

.. then later..again, the same one was covered with blood around her head... this time, we found out that the others were pecking at her very hard..

Leghorns are not so calm as I see... but they also needed more space to live after I read the book about chickens.
