Dead chickens need help

Since more than one chicken died, and those combs were purple, it points to something that may sicken and kill quickly. Here are the possibilities:

-Moldy food
-rodent or ant poison
-coccidiosis (parasites found in soil)
-botulism poisoning from eating things that are decaying deep in the soil

Another possibility is an avian virus that produces tumors that can grow and kill slowly or in the very young, grow and kill quickly.

It's just not possible to tell you what killed your chickens. Only taking a dead chicken to a lab for a necropsy can tell you.

I suggest you watch your chickens carefully for any sign of others becoming sick. Watch for changes in poop and behavior. Report it here in this thread, and we will be alerted. If another chicken becomes sick, there may be more clues than we have now.

Meanwhile, you can treat for coccidiosis just in case it's what killed these chickens. Buy some liquid Corid at a feed store and mix two teaspoons of Corid into one gallon of water. Give as the only water source for five days. Give plain water for a week and then give another five days of Corid water. Mix it fresh every day.

If coccidiosis is what killed your chickens, this will keep others from dying.

You said changes in poop, and i noticed when cleaning thier coop that one chicken has very runny yellowish green poop, is that normal?
