Hi all,
this is my first time with a broody hen. She is a turkey so far is a fabulous setter. She has been sitting for 9 days now and today I candled some of her eggs. What an exiting process!!! I saw movement in some and others that look like they are on the right track, but I'm learning as I'm going and really sure of what I'm seeing.
I found this one egg and I'm thinking it is a goner. I took a couple photos and am hoping to get your trained eyes and opinions.
I noticed the dark ring around the mass as far as I know that means bad news...

err, it doesn't look too dead, I'd leave it be and let your turkey sit on it for a few more days. Candle it in like, 4-5 days and see if there is any progress. If not, it is probably dead. but hey, you never know, weird things happen sometimes!! I'ds give it a chance

I don't see a blood ring in your picture.. but it definitely looks dead. I would be positive enough to throw it out. The veins that should be clear appear to be disintegrating. Looks like it had 3-5 days growth. At least you know you have fertile eggs.

BTW - Nice clear picture of that egg!
