Lost one of my chickens the other day. She had gotten to where she stayed away from the others. She was six months old and laying. Laying around a lot under the porch for two days. Would not stay on the roost at night. She had a yellow, runny stool. Anyone got any ideas as to what she might have died from. Thanks AR Pullet

It could have been dozens of things. In the future, send the bird to your state poultry lab for necropsy and lab work. That's the only way you won't have to guess.

How hot was it? Mine would do that in Texas when it got really hot, they were too hot to get up and go drink and then would dehydrate and die. Most of the time if I spotted it soon enough I would catch them and put them in a small space (dog crate) with water and in a cool shaded spot. Most of the time they would bounce back. I would also feed them melon of some sort watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew. Something with sugar and high water content.
