I would like to start a poll but I'm not a Golden Feather Member. Here are the options that I would offer and I would be interested to see your posts in response. Perhaps a Golden Feather Member could add a multi-choice poll for me, please.

1. Do you kill turkeys for profit?

2. Do you kill turkeys for your own table?

3. Do you sell eggs or live turkeys for profit?

4. Do you keep turkeys only as pets or for eggs for your own table?

5. Did you start to keep turkeys intending to kill them but find that you cannot do it?

6. Are you against killing animals on principle?

1. Do you kill turkeys for profit?

No.

2. Do you kill turkeys for your own table?

Yes I have. Mostly BB turkeys that would die anyways. Sometimes with alot of trauma.

3. Do you sell eggs or live turkeys for profit?

I have never sold a egg. I have never made a profit on turkeys.

4. Do you keep turkeys only as pets or for eggs for your own table?

They are not pets to me. I do enjoy watching them. I have never eaten a turkey egg.

5. Did you start to keep turkeys intending to kill them but find that you cannot do it?

No my intention is preservation of a breed and to create new colors.

6. Are you against killing animals on principle?

No not at this time in my life. If you asked me that 15 years ago my answer would be different. I am a huge animal lover regardless if I like to know where my food comes from, how it has been treated up to the time of death. I am also a health nut so alot of my ideas comes from wanting healthier food.

4) our birds are all considered livestock not pets
5) I don't like the killing part one bit but when the dressing out process starts it's just a chore

1. Do you kill turkeys for profit?
Not yet.

2. Do you kill turkeys for your own table?
Yes, the meat on my plate deserves a respected and loved life.

3. Do you sell eggs or live turkeys for profit?
Yes

4. Do you keep turkeys only as pets or for eggs for your own table?
Yes and no, my breeders will die natural deaths while their progeny grace our plates.

5. Did you start to keep turkeys intending to kill them but find that you cannot do it?
Nope, selectively chose who stays and goes.

6. Are you against killing animals on principle?
No, if you eat meat an animal is going to be killed no matter what. The least we can do is give it a good life in the process.
