Tonight I was late going out to feed and water. I noticed the waterer in the coop was knocked over and empty. I filled it up yesterday, so I think someone knocked it over and the water spilled out. However, I have no idea what time of day it happened.

Anyhow, I had a dead pullet (7 months old) that was over against the far wall away from the other chickens and coop. I didn't see any obvious problems with her, but she did look to have a slight pastey butt. This is also the same chicken that had diarhea off and on. Her butt was half covered in white gunk. So, did she die from coccidia or dehydration?

Should I go ahead and treat my other 3 pullets with Currid? One of the other three does sound like she might have a slight cough. I am not sure, though. What does a chicken cough sound like?

I don't know what to think. If the others are all puffed up sitting there and not eating or drinking, then maybe they are sick. But the meds for coccidiosis or respiratory are two different meds. I'm not sure if she died from dehydration if it was just a day and it hasn't been hot.

the pasty but is mite eggs she wouldnt have died in n1 day from no water respitory illnessess take time and kill the bird slowly coccidiosis kills faster and you wouldnt see the signs most of the time untill its to late I would try sulmet and Aureomycin a broad spectrum antibiotic which treats many diffrent illnesses 1 tablespoon per gallon should do it
