Dead RIR.

This is almost for sure a Weasel attack - which is my worst predator- they dig holes to get in and out, small holes sometimes only 2 or 3 inches diameter, they always just eat the brain and leave the rest.

I had a silkie killed by a Cooper's hawk last weekend. Just pounced, took off her head then I think got spooked by my super sized roo. Then a couple days later lost two month old chicks to a red tailed hawk. Jerks.

If yours free range keep them locked up for a few days. If it is a predator they know there's food and will be back for sure.

I am keeping a closer eye on my girls. We live in South Fl. and my hens run the back yard during the day. Our backyard butts up to a nature preserve and there are birds everywhere including hawks and eagles. I have found snakes in my coop including an indigo but no possums or racoons or that type of predators we have dogs and it keeps them out of the yard. Because she was near the coop and she was our dominant hen who was bullying our bardrock which is much bigger we believe it was a hen fight. Since yesterday my squaky hens are almost silent. There are no more squabbles over food and nesting. All my girls are together in one group when before my bardrock was usually off by herself. I am still watching out for predators and we are going to put fencing over their run and coop for safety and I will be watching my bardrock closely.
