i went out to feed the young (2 month old)chickens and there was one of the roo's in the cornor all the others were eating and he didnt want to... they never do that .they meet me at the door to eat...today i saw bloody poo on the run and frecked lookin at all the chickens then found one inthe cornor dead????? he was slimy on his face. any ideas ? I keep 20 of my brothers chickens and 6 of mine in a shed with a heat light.turned out to have 11 of the 20 as roos, mine are still young so not counting them.could it be them fighting and all or do i need to worry?

Definitely treat for cocci. That is probably what killed him.

Slimy on his face? Just the face or the head, too? Do you have any big snakes still active where you are at? Slimy head would lead me to believe something tried to take advantage of his deceased state and get an easy meal.

Sorry for your loss.

*i thought for a moment this was going to be about a kangaroo! Cause we have ALOT of those kind of "roo's" around here ^^;* it made me wonder why it'd be in the chicken forums!*
