I dont want to beat a dead horse here, but is there any way to be able to give feedback on a buyer who disappears after an auction? It seems to be a real problem. I know you guys have a hands off policy on the auctions, but it would be a great tool to be able to leave feedback for deadbeat buyers, and have feedback show up for buyers when they are bidding on auctions. And again, it would be egg-cellent to be able to block bidders. Unfortunately with the perishability of eggs, its a huge problem if eggs are sold, ready to ship, and the buyer is a no show.

You can leave feedback through the auction they defaulted on.

If you did an off-auction sale, we won't intervene at all.

We will look into chronic offenders, but only if the transaction was through the auction channels, followed the auction rules here

and you can provide facts as to the incident.

I've wondered how often it happens.

For instance I was bidding on eggs and I was outbid by someone who registered that day, with no posts. After a bit you wonder if they are for real or there just to 'help' the price. Maybe it's for real, but I'm hesitant to take the chance.

Right, you can leave negative feedback for bad buyers, and in cases where we see repeat offenders we'll actually ban them from BYC all together.

We're working on ways to help resolve some of the problems with problematic buyers, but we need to make sure that we aren't blocking legitimate buyers while leaving gaping loopholes for bad buyers to just come back and cause problems again.

I've often wondered that myself. Having paid quite handsomely for eggs myself ...

how about a 'medallion' you can "buy" and keep as a -safe BYCA Participant- that the money that one "buys" it for goes into a separate account that can help fix bad auctions, and any complaint against a seller removes the medallion pending review.

You can earn a medallion for free with 100 positive feedback and 0 unresolved negative. ((as asked for in the badge request threads))

i have had so manny dead bete buyers that i ad this line to all my listing

if payment is not reseved by the morning after auction has closed the eggs will be ofered to the back up bider at there last bid price

and i have had to contacted the back up bider on several ocasions but this way someone that whanted the eggs getes them and they are not wasted

just an idea can we have it where if the winning bider dose not contacked and the back up bider take the listing can they have a way to leave feedback ?? or can we have a seller comment area for that ?? just some thoughts

For now, there's no way to tie the second seller to the listing, but the good news is that you can leave negative feedback for the buyer and we can use that as evidence to block them from buying.

We're thinking of ways to try to pre-qualify buyers without making the barriers to high for legit buyers... a very tricky balance.

We have i-trader on the babywearing forum I'm part of, and I like it a lot. There's room to write a note and you can also leave neutral feedback in addition to pos./neg. If you haven't already ruled it out, I recommend it.
