As it should be! I admire and respect that. I have been very careful about who gets my roos. I am very happy to say with careful consideration - I have made some people, kids included, pretty happy by giving them my beloved roos. I actually have established some fantastic friendships with great people because I allowed them to take my roos and my barnyard is much, much happier. I feel the same way about the life time commitment. Mine is that I commit to make sure they are cared for life as well. I just am not always the one caring for them in the end.
I am sure whatever happens your flock will work it out. You can also trim toenails and spurs on the rooster. Natural behavior for a flock is to have a few sparring sessions to work it out.
