No permethrin here. I will stop by the feed store today when I am in town but would love some advice on what chicken owners in Canada use where the common insecticide treatments aren’t available! I can pick up some head lice treatment for humans but I don’t want to poison my chickens. We had a major snowstorm here so I gave them all a good rub down with a wood ash/sand combo, cleared out the whole coop and hand washed it with dawn and cleaning vinegar. I want these lice gone as I have 4 new birds I need to introduce to my flock that are in my kitchen!

My silkie roo who is the only one I have seen them on has been holding his head to one side because of this so I think they have invaded his ear.

I just have a flock of 3 (4 segregated in the kitchen)

Thanks!

Can you get 5% Sevin dust at garden centers/nurseries? That or another product containing carbaryl if you can't get permethrin there or online.
Don't trust DE will treat once they are already present.

Thanks for the article! Doesn’t look like there is a perfect solution...I ordered some DE and I am going to have a big fire tonight and generate some more wood ash and mix the 2 together and put in a giant dust bath that they will hopefully use. This is totally our fault as newbies for not being more preventative. At least the infestation seems small for now.
