Dear chicken know-it-alls,

I'm with you on this one. If you follow the rules of English (which deviate wildly anyhow, no help there), the last part should sound like doe-tee. right??? but I was corrected, errr...informed it was dot. wine-dot. not why-ann-doe-tee

I don't like the WineDot pronunciation.

You know I think I will just keep saying it the way I already do! I have a few words like that. My fiance has given up correcting me. I don't care and I prefer the words my way!! lol.

That's the approach my 12 year old daughter takes ... she calls them "Why nots" and she's perfectly happy doing that, thank you very much!

FireTigeris, where in Arlington are you? We lived in Jax for many years. I left to attend grad school at UF, then ended up out here in Texas where my hubbie is from.

Howdy Philadelphia flock from your neighbor in south Jersey!

I agree about know-it-alls. I've stopped even trying to correct people because if they think they know what they are talking about, there's no way to convince them otherwise! Now I just figure there are a thousand ways to care for chickens and just about all of them have positives and negatives! As long as chickens are healthy and happy, I don't care how people go about caring for them.

Hey anything for less work right? Did ya have to milk then or did they have an autostart???

I think I saw those at Sam's Club ... the autostart model is $500 more ... reckon it's worth it with all those extra teats?!

Ok, If I am gonna spend that kind of money, I need pics. Where are the pics? Bring on the pics!

That pronunciation recording is exactly how we say it here, too- there are a thousand things named that in this region of Kansas.

Why-an-dot.

You should see some of the ways folks say some of the names around here...eek!

I prefer to only discuss chickens in print so I don't have to worry about it.
