I am sure that would prevent the ducks from using the door! The crows would see through this scam without problems.

I was looking at one of those for my pop door for winter to keep the snow from blowing in. We get a lot of horizontal snow around here!

They call it a murder of crows for a reason. A treadle feeder will stop the pellet theft IF you have at least some adult birds and full size birds in the flock. Make them forage for a living, not easy to do in nature, will take up most of their time and they won't have the time to spend looking in nest boxes. Another reason why a proper treadle feeder is one of the best investments you an make for a poultry flock.

The same way I use weed fabric control at the doors of chicken nest boxes, they work, the crow will not go into a place if it can't see what is coming from the back, but I found the ones tasted the eggs before you put the curtain will go through, you have to eliminate those first

Well, even the chickens need to be 'trained'.

Some of my drakes are untrainable! - That's why i need a ramp from the kiddie-pool to dry land, a "hop outa da pool" rock won't work for them. They just simply can't memorize where that rock sits and swim around, franticly rasping their lungs out until i force them over that rock. Then they get out and yell at me. - And that pool is only 6 feet in diameter…
Anyways, as long as the crows only take some pellets, the ducks and i are fine as they have an important job here: Today the crows chased away three red-tailed hawks, parents and offspring, i guess. About 15 crows against 3 hawks - the hawks didn't stood a chance!

Again, don't underestimate the ignorance of my ducks!
I installed a duck-door in the house this year and my ducks refused to go through that »duck beheading guillotine« for almost a week. It was ridiculous to see how the ducks were using that new opening to yell at me to open the damn door of the house and let them out, but wouldn't go through the new opening in the wall.
A treadle feeder will be too much for some of my drakes, they are even too stupid to find the "hop outta da pool" rock when it is under water, see the previous post.

As posted earlier, the crows have demonstrated their value today by chasing away three hawks, circling above the ducks, so there's no de-crowing here.
Just by adjusting my procedure to collecting the eggs immediately after letting the ducks out i can prevent any egg-theft. Imho that is better than ending any life.

You underestimate my duck's psycho powers: Whenever they hear my wife's voice they all come running to the patio, demanding cat-food. She usually caves in…
I call it the cat-food riots!
And if nobody is around with food, my ducks walk down to the creek, decimate devastate the local frog and toad population and make their eggs taste weird.
