I am so grateful for this site and so glad I chose to join-the camaraderie of all the folks on here is wonderful. This is my first post on BYC, and unfortunately not as pleasant as I hoped it would be
I lost my favorite duckling this morning. Went out to the enclosure only to find one ducky huddled in the shade, the other missing. It felt crazy, peeking around all the little areas where I thought he might've wedged himself....something just wasn't right.....I found him face down in the grass, about 20 ft away. Probably one of the most intense and painful moments I've had as an animal lover and caretaker. Just rushing over to him....ugh
I assume it was a loose cat who broke in, he wasn't eaten, barely touched...
I feel so devastated, wishing I could've done something differently even though I know it can't change the events of today.
Has anyone had a similar experience, or dealt with raising a duckling who has lost "siblings"?
Thank you for sharing and taking the time to read my post as well, it is much appreciated.

I have not had to deal with this, is he all by himself now? You may want to get one more so he doesn't feel as bad, I can imagine he will feel a loss though just make sure to.give.lots of loves
. Wishing I had more eggies to begin with so this wasn't such a heartbreaking experience.
